The Science Museum of Virginia (SMV) is a four story building with exhibits and an IMAX Theater and has over 400,000 visitors each year. In addition, the museum also hosts meetings and special events. The request for this security assessment and design was prompted by specific organizational concerns relating to SMV’s commitment to provide the following:

• Enhanced physical security to ensure the safety of the museum visitors and employees within museum premises.
• Protection of museum’s assets.
• Document activities for the purpose of investigation by outside agencies.
• Ensure cost effectiveness and adequacy of the existing electronic security system and guard services within the museum premises.
